Book Club Fall Selections: A Season of Powerful Reads by Black Authors

As the leaves begin to change and cooler evenings settle in, our book club is ready to embrace a new season of stories, perspectives, and unforgettable conversations. We’re thrilled to announce our Fall 2025 Book Club Selections, featuring four brilliant works by Black authors across genres. Each month from August through November, we’ll explore themes of love, identity, legacy, and resilience — stories that spark dialogue and stay with us long after the final page.

Here’s what we’re reading this fall:

August: Can’t Get Enough by Kennedy Ryan

A soul-stirring contemporary romance that delivers emotional depth, heartache, and healing. Kennedy Ryan masterfully captures complex love and the power of second chances. It’s a perfect summer-to-fall transition read: vibrant, passionate, and deeply human.

September: Dream Count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

From the bestselling author of Americanah comes a lyrical, thought-provoking novel that blends personal dreams with collective memory. Dream Count is an exploration of imagination, migration, and the fragile threads that bind us. It’s an introspective and timely read for the back-to-school season.

October: The Dark Maestro by Brendan Slocumb

A gripping music-centered mystery full of twists and social commentary. This novel blends the intrigue of a thriller with a sharp look at race, power, and legacy in the world of classical music. A perfect pick for cozy October nights.

November: Good Dirt by Charmaine Wilkerson

From the author of Black Cake, this multigenerational family saga returns us to questions of heritage, healing, and what it means to grow something lasting from painful roots. A nourishing read for reflection and gratitude season.
