Mission Statement:
Black Women Connect aims to support and empower Black women through meaningful connections, professional development, and cultural enrichment. We provide a platform for Black women to thrive by offering educational programs, literary events, and social engagements that foster personal growth, community building, and advocacy.
Overview
Founded in 2017, Black Women Connect is a registered nonprofit established to create a space for Black women to build relationships and connect through various activities, including a book club. The organization quickly grew beyond its initial vision to encompass a range of events and initiatives that prioritize support, positive engagement, relationships, validation, and healing.
Key Areas of Focus
Community Building: We strive to foster strong, supportive networks among Black women through regular social events, networking opportunities, and support groups. By providing a safe and welcoming environment, we help members build meaningful relationships and support each other in their personal and professional lives.
Literary Engagement: We promote the works of Black authors and encourage literary discussion through monthly book club meetings, author readings, and literary festivals. These activities not only celebrate Black literature but also provide a platform for members to share their thoughts and experiences.
Professional Development: We enhance the professional skills and career opportunities of Black women by offering workshops, mentorship programs, and career advancement seminars. These initiatives aim to equip our members with the knowledge and resources they need to succeed in their careers.
Cultural Awareness: We celebrate and promote Black culture through cultural festivals, heritage tours, and educational campaigns. These activities help to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Black heritage and contributions to society.
Our events and activities focus on helping Black women become the best versions of themselves while building lives filled with friendships, opportunity, positivity, and confidence. We believe that Black women are their strongest when in community with other Black women, and our goal is to grow this “collaboration over competition” mindset with as many women as we can reach. We firmly believe that we have the ability to make a massive impact as we grow together.
