Community Building
At Black Women Connect, we strive to foster strong, supportive networks among Black women. Our community building initiatives create safe and welcoming spaces for connection and engagement.
- Social Events: Enjoy monthly mixers, networking nights, thematic dinners, cultural celebrations, outdoor activities, and travel excursions designed to bring Black women together in relaxed, enjoyable settings. Learn more

Literary Engagement
We are passionate about promoting the works of Black authors and encouraging literary discussion. Our literary engagement programs offer platforms for members to share their thoughts and experiences, fostering a deep appreciation for Black literature and culture.
- Monthly Book Club: Join our vibrant community of readers who meet monthly to discuss books by Black authors. Learn more
- Literary Festival: Our annual Literary Festival celebrates Black literature, with a special emphasis on Black Canadian writers and authors from the diaspora. Attend live readings, panel discussions, workshops, masterclasses, book signings, and more. Learn more
- Youth Storytelling Workshops: Inspire and empower young Black storytellers through creative writing sessions, public performances, and mentorship. Learn more
- Writer-in-Residence Program: Support emerging Black women writers by providing them with residencies, regular workshops, and public readings. This program fosters talent development and provides visibility for Black women writers. Learn more
Professional Development
We enhance the professional skills and career opportunities of Black women by offering workshops, mentorship programs, and career advancement seminars. Our initiatives are designed to equip our members with the knowledge and resources they need to succeed in their careers.
- Workshops: Participate in executive leadership training, board governance and leadership workshops, advanced negotiation skills sessions, and financial acumen for leaders. These workshops are facilitated by industry experts. Learn more
